Celebrating National Black Business Month with books in Roxbury

by The 100 Companies

In the midst of an era where book bans remain rife (and Amazon strives to monopolize the printed word), supporting local booksellers is more important than ever. Enter Clarissa Cropper and Leonard Egerton, who have been “Changing Minds One Book at A Time” since 2008 when they purchased Roxbury’s Frugal Bookstore from Egerton’s former boss.

In an effort to share their collective love of, “real, hold-in-your-hand, feel-the-paper, turn-the-page-while-sitting-in-the-tub” books, the couple curates an extensive list of classic and contemporary titles and will happily special order any book the community can’t find while browsing the shelves at Beantown’s only Black-owned bookshop.
