The 2024 James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Award semifinalists are out, and a trio of Beantown destinations made the list – including Comfort Kitchen in Dorchester (611 Columbia Road) in the Best New Restaurant category.
This lively spot – serving casual café fare by day and intimate dinners after dark (plus full bar) – boasts global comfort food celebrating community, history and the ingredients and flavors of the African diaspora.
Located in the historic Upham’s Corner Comfort Station, the restaurant debuted in January 2023 after a series of successful pop-ups around the city. Comfort Kitchen is a Black-owned, immigrant-owned and woman-owned business.
