It’s All About the Spritz

Aperol, an Italian aperitif with a bitter-sweet taste, started gaining popularity in the immediate post-war period in Italy among young adults with an active social life. Soon after, the Aperol Spritz was born and quickly became “Italy’s drink.”

This refreshing cocktail is an easy 3-2-1 mix of Prosecco, Aperol and soda water and garnished with an orange slice. While Italians tend to enjoy their Aperol Spritz during apertivo, their version of happy hour, the drink is rapidly gaining popularity in the United States, becoming the perfect adult beverage to enjoy anytime on a hot summer day.
