Blizzard season tip: pick up the shovel

by Michael Polzella

The duty to remove snow and ice from property (including motor vehicles) is a serious one. In SUGARMAN’s personal injury practice, we have seen winter falls cause serious injuries, including fractures, head trauma and quadriplegia.

Accidents from vehicles driven negligently in the snow, as well as flying snow and ice from the top of trucks and cars, have also caused catastrophic personal injuries and even death.

While we are well-advised to stay inside during blizzards, that inevitable trek to the garage for the shovel must be exercised in a reasonable amount of time and completed with reasonable care.
