Boston Tea Party

For Bostonians, December brings more than just one anniversary. Of course, we look forward to Christmas and the birth of baby Jesus. But there’s another momentous day to remember.

In protest of Parliament’s Tea Act, Sam Adams organized the Boston Tea Party with 60 members of Sons of Liberty.

Around midnight on Dec. 16, 1773, Bostonians disguised as Native Americans snuck onto three British ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into the water. $18,000 worth in ’73 – the equivalent to nearly $2 million today.

Celebrate this year with trip to the museum, or a cup of tea at home.
