Are you a female athlete? If so, it’s very important to be aware of a common condition called “female athlete triad” – a condition that can be caused by not eating enough to replace the calories spent during exercise.
This failure to get appropriate nutritional support can result in the three hallmarks that give the “triad” its name : low energy availability, menstrual irregularity and low bone mineral density. Athletes suffering from this condition are at much higher risk for sustaining bone, joint and other sports-related injuries.
To ensure you’re staying healthy, make sure to always balance exercise with good nutrition.
