Massachusetts life expectancy increases amid national decrease

by
Mass. life expectancy

If you want to live a long and healthy life, you picked the right state to live in. According to the state Department of Public Health, the average life expectancy of our state’s residents rose to 80 years and eight months in 2016 – three months longer than 2015’s average.

This increase runs counter to a decrease in the national average life expectancy. According to the CDC, a baby born in 2017 is expected to live 78 years and seven months, a two-month decrease from 2016.

These figures are the latest available from both the state department and the CDC.
