Hearts are everywhere on Valentine’s Day, but for me they’re a reminder of the often overshadowed and more important part of February, American Heart Month. Below are some facts from the AHA:
– 1 in 3 adults have some form of heart disease or has had a stroke.
– Heart disease and stroke kill more than 813,000 Americans annually.
– 2/3 of adults and 1/3 of children are overweight or obese.
Thankfully, 80% of cardiovascular disease is preventable with your commitment to eat healthier and move more. Limit sugar and processed food and when craving chocolate, make these peppermints instead.
