Each year on Patriots’ Day, the Boston Marathon attracts about 500,000 spectators, making it New England’s most widely viewed sporting event. It’s also the world’s oldest annual marathon.
If you aren’t one of the approximately 30,000 people who qualified to run 26.2 miles on April 15, there are plenty (less vigorous) opportunities to experience the race. Head to the Red Sox game, which begins at 11:05 a.m. After, fans pour out of Fenway to cheer on runners at mile 25. Many bars and restaurants open early for viewing festivities.
