This autumn, Diwali – the ancient Hindu festival of lights – descends upon the MFABoston Thursday, Nov. 7 with an evening of art, performances and hands-on activities.
On this festival day, some of the world’s oldest religious groups – including Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains – light an oil-burning diya with to mark the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.
Tour the galleries of South Asian art and join in the fun of music and dance, all in honor of Deepavali – spanning five days during the lunar months of Ashvina and Karttika; this year, Diwali falls on Halloween.
