Columbus Day is a widely celebrated U.S holiday that commemorates the landing of Christopher Columbus in America, and it became an official holiday in 1937. It’s celebrated through church services, cookouts with family and friends, and more popularly, watching the parade.
The Columbus Day Parade provides entertainment from bands and bagpipes, creative duck-boat floats, proud military and nonprofit organizations, and other exciting groups participating. Along with the traditional celebration of Christopher Columbus coming to the Americas, Boston’s Parade also celebrates the commitment of Massachusetts Military Units to American freedom. So head into the city and enjoy the day!
