Jennifer Aniston was late to Instagram, but when she finally joined she “broke” the platform. So many people followed her, it crashed the app.

1. Your real-life reputation affects your social following. Make friends.
2. Zoom in. We’ve seen the Friends stars together before, but we loved their happy faces, crowded together in a tight frame.
3. Cleverness counts. Aniston’s first comment was as cute as a frame around a peephole: “Now we’re Instagram friends.” She also wisely chose the one comment she responded to. “Are you and Ross still together?” someone asked. “Well, we’re on a break.”
