February is Heart Health Month, and on the 3rd we wear red to raise awareness for cardiovascular disease, which causes one in three U.S. deaths. Many are preventable through significant lifestyle shifts, especially reshaping the way you eat! That doesn’t mean you have to give up all of your tasty treats. You just might have to get creative with your recipes.
One of my dad’s all-time favorite candies was peppermint patties, which are full of sugar, corn syrup and junk. So I made a healthy, homemade version to honor him for February’s Heart Health Month, the Peppermint Johnny.
