When it comes to fall dishes, pumpkin pie clearly takes the spotlight. Hearty pumpkin flavors mixed with a flaky crust goes great with a dessert wine. Try: Gewurtztraminer, Tokaji, Sauternes or an Ice Wine.
With a dish like a pumpkin ravioli in a white sauce, I would recommend a dry white wine with some bright acidity. Chenin Blanc, Viognier or a Pinot Gris are great options.
Pumpkin done in red sauce will go well with a Sangiovese as its medium body and dry, tart characteristics offer balance.
Always think about your specific dish and preparation when pairing your wines. Cheers!
