The good folks at Microsoft News shared their list of the twenty best movies about elections. From classics “The Manchurian Candidate” and “The Best Man” from the early sixties to the more contemporary 1999’s “Election” and 2016’s “The Campaign,” there are classics.
I confess: I have seen them all.
Do see 1972’s “The Candidate” starring Robert Redford in his glory as a reluctant California U.S. Senate candidate. The film bridges the old days to the new ways of electioneering, all with a sneer for the packaging and a cheer for the idealistic. The ending comes in for a terrific landing.
