Movie Review: “Get Out”

by

This slick, edge-of-your-seat thriller challenges racism the way “The Stepford Wives” challenged male chauvinism in the 1970s. Director Jordan Peele delivers a new breed of horror movie that scares and outrages between bursts of comic relief.

Chris, a young, up-and-coming black photographer (Daniel Kaluuya) is dating white girl Rose (Allison Williams) and reluctantly agrees to meet her family. Catherine Keener and Bradley Whitford play Rose’s parents with a disturbing mix of friendly creepiness. Chris’ friend, played by Lil Rel Howery, steals the show as a suspicious TSA agent who grows concerned for his friend’s safety.
