City dwellers need not miss out on Great Outdoors Month, and “Get Outdoors Day” (June 11) is the perfect reason to hit the city’s 27-mile-long hiking path, which precludes heading for the hills and instead invites folks to explore their urban environs.
Beantown’s Walking City Trail crisscrosses a myriad of landscapes from nature reserves and parks to water features and behemoth boulders while redefining what it means to hit the trail.
The tour passes through 17 neighborhoods and comes within a mile of several significant landmarks, from Faneuil Hall to Fenway Park.
Bonus: All four sections are accessible by public transportation.
