A mid-winter reminder

by The 100 Companies

When you meet someone new, resolve to be impressed and interested rather than impressive and interesting.

The idea is simple yet profound: In a world where the majority of folks are thinking about themselves, this phrase inspires me to be consistently curious about others – something I am actively teaching my children.

I challenge them, when they meet someone new, to seek something out about that person. It’s a simple practice that increases the likelihood of connection and allows for meaningful engagement; the practice also stands to make someone feel seen and heard, which goes a long way toward creating empathy.
