In our family, philanthropy is no joke.
My wife’s grandfather, Robert Lee Turner, was a spiritual man who put his wealth to good use. Following his 1955 retirement (from Genuine Parts Company and NAPA, where he was president), Turner and his wife traveled around the world.
When their flight got delayed in Kenya, a local missionary took Turner to Kijabe and shared with him the people’s dream – to have power, telephones and water in the village. Not only did Turner make this happen, but he went on to donate what would become AIC Kijabe Hospital in 1960.
What fuels your philanthropy?
