National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated annually from Sept. 15-Oct. 15, begins mid-month to coincide with Independence Day in five Central American countries: Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala; Mexico’s falls on the 16th and Chile’s on the 18th. In keeping with (a baker’s dozen) years of tradition, Boston’s Hispanic Heritage Breakfast will be served on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Park Plaza Hotel from 7-9:30 a.m., followed by the “show” at 7:45 a.m.

This annual event brings together a diverse range of thought leaders – from both the public and private sectors – in a setting that’s equal parts humorous, joyful and substantive. At the center? An awards presentation recognizing the special individuals whose contributions to the city and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts make the area’s Latino community truly special.
