The show begins in June, when at each dawn, a different bulb emerges and blossoms in splendor. Overnight, the songbird vacationers return to the nests they carefully crafted the year before. Only this year, I’ve added stone design to their quarters.
Stone carver and landscape designer Joel Faucher makes fabulous stone birdbaths, many of which are scattered among my gardens. While the birds have their routines and species have their favorites, watching them splash about has brought hours of entertainment – and that’s not just for the birds. The baths also attract a diverse audience of two and four-legged guests.
