Crisis planning 101


Most business owners don’t think about crisis until they experience one. Planning for a crisis will keep you ahead of the curve. Start here:

1. Identify your crisis team. Include the C-suite, communication staff, an attorney, human resources and division managers.

2. Convene the crisis team to discuss worst-case scenarios – fire, data breach “me too” or perhaps a fatal accident. Verbalize your darkest fears.

3. Prepare “holding statements” for five to seven worst-case scenarios. Express empathy, detail what happened and what you plan to do about it. Be succinct. For sample holding statements, email tara@crisisinterception.com.
