National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

When you think of all the Thanksgiving meals in November, it can be hard to imagine that in this country people are suffering from hunger and homelessness. According to the National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week website, there are 43.1 million Americans living below the poverty level, with one in five children living in poverty.

Worldwide, 795 million people go hungry and six children die per minute from hunger-related diseases. How can you get involved? Volunteer at a food pantry, soup kitchen, homeless shelter or food bank such as the Greater Boston Food Bank to make a difference.
