Now in its 10th year, Giving Tuesday – taking place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – was created to encourage donations to causes that will better one’s community.
Before giving to nonprofits or charities, visit sites like CharityWatch, GuideStar and CharityNavigator to research and find out how each ranks, how it uses donated funds and more. The Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance is also a helpful site for learning more about a charity.
If you’re not in a position to donate financially, you can also donate needed items, volunteer your time or lend your voice in support of a charity or cause.
