Senior living gets kicked up a notch

A beach in Tampa Bay

As more boomers make the transition to retirement, the 55+ lifestyle is changing with them. In addition to bocce ball courts and bingo nights, there are now sailing classes and swim-up bars.

This new wave of amenities is evident in homebuilder Lennar’s first Tampa Bay active-adult homes in Montage at Southshore Bay in south Hillsborough County’s Wimauma.

The community will have a 6-acre Crystal Lagoon, an aquatic amenity new to the U.S. that will offer activities such as paddleboarding and kayaking. There’s also a dog park, family beach, garden and a shaded “tot lot” for kids.
