Fall’s weather doesn’t make for an ideal beach day, but that doesn’t mean you have to avoid the coast entirely. Massachusetts is home to lighthouses which boast history and beauty. Here are some lighthouses to consider visiting for a day trip or romantic evening by the water:
Scituate Lighthouse – The grounds are open year-round, but open houses are limited
Nobska Point Lighthouse (Falmouth) – Occasional open houses
Clarks Point Lighthouse (New Bedford) – The fort and lighthouse aren’t open to the public, but make for great photography
Fort Pickering Lighthouse (Salem) – Grounds accessible year-round
Marblehead Lighthouse – Grounds accessible year-round
