Ferns: A fossilized beauty

by
Fossilized ferns

When summer surrenders to fall, I’m conflicted. After a mesmerizing garden season, colorless frigid air has me running inside to my design studio where last spring’s stone purchases have been waiting for my attention for months.

Ferns are a favorite and this fossilized beauty, perfectly preserved in a mystical limestone, has been teasing me to get back to work. Ferns reach back 360 million years and their place in our future is now being studied; will these mighty spores play a major role in removing toxins from the atmosphere?

Every time you drive in your car, thank a fossilized fern.
