Each year, the Hockomock Area YMCA honors a local sports figure at their Legends Ball event in November. The Legends Ball raises funds and awareness for their Integration Initiative – helping children with special needs participate in sports and activities alongside their typically developing peers.
This year, New England Patriot Matthew Slater was chosen as the Legends Ball Honoree. The YMCA chooses a legend based on good character and community support. Matthew Slater is an avid supporter of the Integration Initiative and an advocate for the positive impact it makes on children with special needs and their families in the community.
