Art lovers of Boston will have a new contemporary art museum to patron beginning February 2020. The best part of visiting the newly renovated 15,000-square-foot space? It costs nothing.
Massachusetts College of Art and Design raised $12.5 million from a capital campaign to fund MassArt Art Museum (MAAM). It will exist in a 1906 building on campus, formerly Bakalar & Paine Galleries. Renovations include a new front entrance on Huntington Avenue, an outdoor space and new climate control systems, allowing year-round programming.
According to the school, MAAM will be “welcoming, vibrant, fun and a bit unexpected.”
