Ghostly haunts of Kings Chapel

by The 100 Companies

Founded in 1630, Kings Chapel Burial Ground is the oldest cemetery in Boston – and believed to be one of the city’s most haunted places.

Located near the corner of Tremont and School Street, it’s the final resting place of Boston’s earliest and most prominent citizens – Revolutionary War heroes like William Dawes, the midnight companion of Paul Revere; John Winthrop, the first governor of Massachusetts; Mary Chilton, the first Englishwoman in New England; and, supposedly, the ghost of Captain Kidd.

In 1810, many of the headstones were moved, supposedly confusing the many spirits who now wander about searching for their graves.
